May 5, 2014 — Lehighton’s Gwen Remaley wins two gold medals at the annual Mountain Valley Conference Track & Field Championships. Remaley earns her fourth consecutive MVC crown in the discus, winning the event with a toss of 116-8, and grabs her third straight MVC shot put title with a distance of 41-0 1/2. The Indians also receive firsts from Kyle Whiteman (shot put, 49-2) and Megan McCullion (javelin, 110-11). Pleasant Valley ends the meet with six champions. Jon Schmid (800, 2:01.52), Khai Samuels (1600, 4:41.73), Seth Slavin (3200, 10:12.20) and Nyiem Nevarez (300 hurdles, 40.88) are all golden in the boys competition, while Jen Mickens (800, 2:23.71) and Samantha Young (1600, 5:30.65) both capture gold in the girls’ meet.
