A Stroudsburg man was jailed on Christmas Day after he fired multiple gun shots at a vehicle between noon and 3 p.m. at 127 Echo Farm Road, Paradise Township.

State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said Anselm Eprecht was arraigned on charges of criminal trespass, criminal mischief and other related charges after he resisted arrest when police were called to the scene.

Police said they were initially informed a 35-year-old man was discharging multiple rounds from a .16-gauge shotgun outside the residence and identified the suspect as Eprecht, who they said has a history of mental health disorders.

Police said he fired several shots at a 2002 Honda CRV that was parked at the residence, causing extensive damage.

Upon arrival, police said they observed Eprecht holding the gun at a lowered position. Police said he refused to comply with multiple verbal commands and retreated behind a cabin, where he fired a shot in an unknown direction. Police said when Eprecht walked towards the roadway, he was contracted by troopers near the woodline at Route 715 and Echo Farm Road.

The man dropped the firearm when he observed an officer from the roadway, but still would not comply with verbal commands and physically resisted troopers’ attempts to take him into custody. He was eventually detained and transported to the state police barracks.

Police said Eprecht is imprisoned in lieu of $75,000 bail.
