A man who police say threatened to kill residents of a Tamaqua apartment building was jailed in Schuylkill County Prison.
According to Tamaqua police, officers were called to the East Broad Street property at 11 a.m. Monday by the property manager, who said that resident Steven Marsicano was threatening other residents.
A female resident told police that as she was near the first-floor elevator, Marsicano “got in her face” and said, “Mind your own business. I will get you.”
The woman told police that she believed Marsicano would harm her.
While speaking to the woman in the lobby, another resident walked in and told police that Marsicano had just threatened to kill her with a gun. Police said Marsicano told the woman that he was going to kill people in the apartment building.
Police said Marsicano, 57, was smoking a cigarette outside. The officer told Marsicano to extinguish the cigarette because he was under arrest. The suspect was placed in handcuffs and taken into custody.
He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Stephen Bayer, Tamaqua, on charges of terroristic threats, harassment and disorderly conduct. He was unable to post $10,000 straight cash bail and remanded to the county prison.
A preliminary hearing for Marsicano has been scheduled for 9:50 a.m. Sept. 24 before Bayer.
