A Lansford man has been charged with assaulting a woman.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Charles Inserra of the Pennsylvania State Police - Lehighton barracks, in the case against Michael Adams:
At 1:59 p.m. May 24, Inserra was dispatched to a residence on Springgarden Road, Lansford, for a domestic dispute.
Police met the victim outside the residence. Adams, 44, was inside the residence.
The woman related that she and Adams had been arguing throughout the earlier portion of the evening, and that Adams had left their shared residence for a portion of time.
The victim said that Adams returned to the residence and was banging on the apartment door, which was locked.
The victim said that when she unlocked the door and let Adams into the residence, he became angry because the doors were locked.
The victim said that Adams punched her in the face one time.
She had swelling, bruising, and bleeding to the left eye, nose, and mouth, and was holding bloodied towels which she claimed were used to control bleeding from her nose as a result of the attack by Adams.
The victim also reported pain to her jaw, and felt as if her bottom teeth were loose.
Adams faces charges of simple assault and harassment.
Adams is currently incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000, 10% monetary bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing June 5 before District Judge Beth A. Dodson of Lansford.
