Weissport conducted the following business this month:
• Weissport Chief of Police Matthew Williams submitted his report for the month of February 2024.
The 14 calls included three traffic violations, two quality of life tickets, two expired inspections, plus calls for Megan’s Law violation, bad checks, theft from AMV, curfew violation, civil complaint, and an arrest warrant.
• Council will look at purchasing hot or cold patch to repair the many potholes that have developed around Weissport. They will put together an estimate on how much they will need to purchase, and present the recommendation at the next meeting.
• Council is looking into replacing the electrical outlets on the bell tower in the borough park. The covers that are on the current outlet continue to be broken by vandals; so, the borough wants to find a more secure option.
• Total garbage fees collected for March 2024: $13,251.01. Total year-to-date: $46,827.08.
• Borough Council will be looking over the information for the new borough website. The new site is expected to become active in the near future.
• Council asked Borough Solicitor Gregory Mousseau to draw up an amendment to a current ordinance regarding metal detection in the borough park. The current ordinance suggests that people cannot “perforate or penetrate the ground” of the park. Council wants an amendment that will specifically prohibit metal detecting in the park.
• The next Movie in the Park, hosted by the Hope Community Fellowship Church of Weissport, will be held on Friday, May 31, in the Weissport Borough Park. More information will follow.
