Washington Township supervisors met this week and approved the following items:

• The use of the Pavilion by the Covered Bridge for the Springside Sportsmen Club Inc. Annual Kids Fishing Contest on Saturday, May 4, with rain date of May 5. The event will be from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Awarded road improvement project bid to AMS of Center Valley at $368,212.31. Roads to be repaired, Bake Oven Avenue, Northwood Drive, Swamp Hollow, Clover Hollow, Molasses Barrel Road, Rextown Road, Walnut Road, Shady Nook Road, and Smith Hill Road.

• Appointed Kristie Wentling as deputy tax collector.

• Appointed Joe Mead as emergency management coordinator.

Mead gave his report to supervisors. He said the Emergency Response Plan has not been updated since 2007. It will be an ongoing project, with input needed from the township manager, and surrounding Fire Chiefs and EMS.

Mead and fellow firefighter Matt Stevens will attend a three-day EMS conference this weekend at DeSales University.
