Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met recently with 27 members present.

President Jean Machamer opened the meeting with the invocation, “Awaken Each Morning.”

Mary Taylor and Karen Reed were added to the sick list. Bingo and cards were played.

The seniors meet at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will share a message with the Palm Sunday theme at the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service at Calvary Evangelical UM Church, Lewistown Valley, located at 824 Catawissa Rd., Tamaqua. Special music will be presented. There will be no evening service. The Easter cantata under the direction of Brenda Reed will be at 3 p.m.

Sunday school for all ages is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. Sunday. The Prayer and Share will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Lenten services will be held beginning at 7:15 p.m. March 28 at Salem United Methodist Church, Drehersville. A Good Friday service will be held at 1:30 p.m. March 29 at New Ringgold United Methodist Church, and the Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 6:45 a.m. March 31 at Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, Valley Road.

Garden Club

The Lewistown Valley Garden Club will hold its first meeting for 2024 at 1 p.m. March 26 in the Zion Church Social Hall. This year’s theme for arrangements will be “Flowers for Daily Chores” and this month’s arrangement is “Monday is Wash Day” with a laundry accessory using fresh flowers. The specimen is any forced branch - one specimen with no leaves in a clear container.

The program will be Easter Surprise. New members are always welcome. For more information, contact Louise Flexer at 570-467 -3400.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday School is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

United Way

The Schuylkill United Way will have a Snacks and Facts program from 11 a.m. to noon April 16 at the Lehigh Carbon Community College’s Morgan Center, 234 High St., Tamaqua. Attendees will learn how the programs, partner agencies and initiatives of the Schuylkill United Way impact the community.
