According to court papers, state police observed a vehicle driven by Vereen exit Route 248 onto Route 895 Saturday afternoon, and approached after Vereen quickly parked on Bowmans Road. The trooper pulled alongside Vereen and observed him being nervous and making furtive movements and at one point holding up a large amount of $20 bills. Vereen informed troopers of a hypodermic needle inside his shorts under his jeans, and the contraband found and seized, court papers said.
Following submitting to a chemical test of blood at St. Luke’s Carbon Campus, Vereen continued to make furtive movements being transported to the Lehighton station.
Vereen told troopers that he had another hypodermic needle in his sock and drugs concealed elsewhere on his person, court papers said. Vereen retrieved a baggie with fentanyl, another with methamphetamine and another with white powder, court papers said.
Vereen is prohibited from possessing a firearm due to his criminal history.
