Incumbent Gould keeps seat in Chestnuthill Twp.

Two incumbent supervisors will remain in office in Chestnuthill Township.

Chuck Gould ran on the Democratic ticket after losing his spot in the Republican primary to George Strunk. On Tuesday, longtime supervisor Gould came out ahead with 1,846 votes to Strunk’s 1,593 votes.

Roger W. Kutzler also ran on the Democratic ballot after being bumped from the Republican ticket by Deborah Modica in the primary. On Tuesday it was a close race, but Kutzler pulled ahead with 1,771 unofficial votes to Modica’s 1,679.

Both supervisors have said they want to balance growth with preserving agriculture.

Republican Joanne Davidson was unchallenged for the 6-year term of township auditor.

In other supervisor races, incumbent Republican Gary Hoffman defeated former supervisor Mary Ann Clausen in Eldred Township for a 2-year term. Hoffman had 365 votes and Clausen had 273.

Incumbent Republican supervisor Scott C. Clark was unchallenged for the 6-year term.

In Ross Township, incumbent Republican supervisor David M. Shay held off Democrat Matthew Reeder for another 6-year term. Shay had 722 votes and Reeder received 460 votes. Shay has said the township needs to be proactive with zoning.

Democrat Therese A. Doll was unchallenged for the 6-year term as township auditor.

In Polk Township, incumbent Michael Hurley ran on both tickets to secure another 6-year term.

Democrat Trenton Barry Schaffer was unchallenged for township auditor. He received 951 votes.
