The Slatington Moose Lodge and Family Center 1375 will be giving away Tommy Moose dolls to first responders throughout the community.
It will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Slatington Moose Lodge and Family Center 1375, according to member George Kern.
Kern, who said the group previously ran the program in 2010, said Tommy Moose dolls will be distributed to the Emerald Fire Company, Friedens Fire Company, Slatedale Fire Company, Diamond Fire Company in Walnutport, Walnutport Police Department, Slatington Police Department, and Northern Valley Ambulance (NOVA).
“The program was founded by Moose International in 2003 to provide police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel with moose dolls to distract and comfort children facing difficult and sometimes terrifying situations,” Kern said. “The doll has not only been used in emergency situations, but also during medical procedures to help calm and comfort children facing medical treatment and play therapy.
“They are ready to share Tommy Moose’s friendly smile with a child in need.”
