Towamensing Township supervisors

The Towamensing Township supervisors handled the following items at their meeting.

• Bobbie Chevalier, president of the Lakeview Estate Property Owners Association, inquired about getting meeting minutes from before 2018 because he wants to look into subdivisions that have occurred. He was told that going to the county was the best way to get the minutes he requested.

• A time extension letter for a subdivision was approved for Loretta George until April 4.

• The House Numbering and False Alarm ordinances were formally approved and signed. Fire Chief Ryan Snyder asked who will send the letters regarding false alarms. The board will “figure this out” and empower someone by resolution to do so.

• RF Ohls was given the fuel bid and both New Enterprise and Lehigh Asphalt were awarded the bid for materials at a cost of $67,253.

• Ten calls were reported by the fire company for the month of September and 87 emergency calls year-to-date. The company requested to use Municibid to post a tanker, which was approved. The fire company will be doing a fire prevention program at the elementary schools and daycares.

• Requests for assistance of the fire police were approved for the Palmerton Halloween Parade at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 15. Rain date is 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16.

• Trick-or-treat will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28.

• Scott Carter was appointed a new member of the planning commission. Cheng Law resigned from the position.

• The next meeting of the Towamensing board of supervisors is at 7 p.m. Nov. 2.
