More than 1,600 Jim Thorpe residents were without power for five hours Wednesday after a tractor-trailer traveling west on Center Street hit a tree at the intersection with Front Street. Large branches fell on power lines along the street. Traffic was being detoured from Route 903 because of bridge work, causing congestion on residential streets. The incident happened at 3 p.m.
