N. Lehigh to fill school board spot

Northern Lehigh School District hopes to fill a vacancy on its school board caused by the death earlier this month of a former director.

The board is seeking applicants from residents of the district for the vacant seat on or by 3 p.m. July 31. Whoever is selected to fill the seat will serve until December 2015.To serve beyond that time frame, the person who is chosen must have their name placed on the November ballot.Residents who are interested in applying for the position of school director should write a letter of application to Gregory S. Williams, board secretary, Northern Lehigh School District, 1201 Shadow Oaks Lane, Slatington, PA 18080.The seat became open after former Director Raymond "Jack" Follweiler died unexpectedly July 11 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville as the result of a brain aneurysm after becoming ill the day before. Follweiler, 78, of Slatington, served nearly 12 years on the board.Terry Ahner
