Lukewarm interest has been expressed to fill a vacant seat on Northern Lehigh School Board.
Only two applicants have emerged to fill the post, which became open after former Director Raymond "Jack" Follweiler died unexpectedly last month.Melanie Hoffman-Bowman of Washington Township and Gale Husack of Slatington applied for the seat.A new board member could be chosen when the board meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday.Whoever is selected to fill the seat will serve until December 2015.To serve beyond that time frame, the person who is chosen must have their name placed on the November ballot.Follweiler died July 11 at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville as the result of a brain aneurysm after becoming ill the day before.Follweiler, 78, of Slatington, served nearly 12 years on the board.
