A Carbon County man admitted to receiving unemployment benefits when he was not legally entitled to them.
Jefferson Bachinski, 50, of Lansford, pleaded guilty to one count of theft by deception-false impression, a felony three, before Judge Steven R. Serfass.The charge was filed by the district attorney's office on information from the state office that monitors unemployment matters.It is charged that Bachinski received $48,225 in unemployment benefits while not reporting earnings he was receiving at the time.Serfass accepted the plea but deferred sentencing ordering the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.Bachinski was scheduled to go on trial Monday on the charge.
