The Carbon County Commissioners last week acted on two items regarding the proposed pedestrian bridge project to connect the D&L Trail to the D&L towpath in Jim Thorpe.

The first action authorized the advertisement of the statement of interest for construction inspection services for the bridge on the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation electronic construction management system.The second approved a federal aid reimbursement agreement with PennDOT for a Transportation Alternatives Program grant in the amount of $2,000,752, federal earmark funds in the amount of $1,015,542, and $10,000 in department incurred costs for a total of $3,026,294. The funds will cover the construction of the bridge across the Lehigh River in the area past Turkey Hill in Jim Thorpe.
