2 to 5 inches of snow, followed by freezing rain

A winter weather advisory remains in effect through 4 a.m. Tuesday.

Snow and sleet will accumulate from 2 to 5 inches.

Snow will expand northward into the area during this afternoon. Snow will mix with sleet from south to north early this evening, then change to freezing rain shortly after. Precipitation will change to rain at most places overnight but a few pockets of freezing rain could linger into the early morning in some of the colder spots.

Roads will become snow covered this afternoon. Slushy and icy spots will develop this evening with a light glaze of freezing rain falling on top of the snow.

Temperatures will rise into the 20s this evening and then low to mid 30s by early Tuesday morning.
