Carbon County residents who will not be in the area on election day will have a little more time to submit absentee ballots.

During the county commissioners' meeting on Thursday, Lisa Dart, Carbon County elections director, announced that Gov. Tom Corbett has signed an executive order for those counties that were affected by Superstorm Sandy. The order extends the deadline to receive absentee ballots from residents to 5 p.m., Monday, Nov. 5. The original deadline to receive absentee ballots was Friday, Nov. 2.Dart explained that the ballots will then be segregated and counted at canvassing.
