West Penn Township supervisors meeting

West Penn Township supervisors took the following action last week:

• Accepted the resignation of part-time police officer Todd Woodward.

• Approved a bid in the amount of $1,115 from Zaprazny to salvage the impound vehicles.

• Announced that spotlights for the green train next to the township police department that the township purchased are missing. The board asked if anyone knows what happened to the spotlights.

• Adopted a resolution for the Timber Ridge Development at the recommendation of 911 Communications. Essentially, the circle in the Timber Ridge Development will be Eagles View Drive. Before it was half East Hyland, and half Eagles View Drive. The road leading up to the circle will remain East Hyland.

• Discussed the possibility of adopting the International Property Maintenance Code. Township solicitor Paul J. Datte is looking into the matter.

• Announced that the board received a thank-you letter for allowing township roadmaster Jeremy Frable and the road crew to remove the old basketball foundation and tree root on the court, as well as for installing the new foundation and poles for the new basketball package. The project is expected to be compete in spring.

• Announced that the township received a letter from the Schuylkill County Election Bureau notifying the township that it would like to use the township’s municipal building again for elections, and inquired if it was available. The board said it has no problems with the municipal building being used as the polling site for elections.
