A Philadelphia man was sentenced in Carbon County court recently on two criminal counts.
Tyrelle Lamont Suttle, 32, who also lists an address in Wind Gap, was sentenced to serve 6 months to one day less 24 months in prison on a charge of manufacturing weapons and a year probation on a tampering with evidence count. The terms run consecutively. The district attorney’s office agreed to the mitigated range sentence, which is the lowest end of sentencing ranges.
On July 10, 2021, state police at Lehighton were dispatched to a report of a man threatening to shoot his girlfriend and her unborn child while hallucinating after taking drugs.
Troopers went to an apartment in the 100 block of Yard Street in Nesquehoning where Suttle and his girlfriend were staying. Troopers spoke with the woman who told them Suttle had been awake for about 48 hours and saw him use the drug “Molly.” The woman said that Suttle appeared to be hallucinating and was seeing men entering their residence.
The police report also stated woman said Suttle told her if she calls the police, he would not go back to prison for another gun or drug charge, but that he will go out by “suicide by cop.”
The woman said she observed Suttle point the pistol at his own head, and destroy his own cellphone.
She also said Suttle took Xanax pills and fell asleep so she removed the 30-round magazine from the pistol.
Troopers and local police departments took Suttle into custody when he left the residence.
Suttle, who is in the Northampton County prison on other charges, was ordered to get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of over $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.
He was given credit for 163 days already served on the charges.
