Carbon man pleads to harassing family

A Carbon County man entered a guilty plea on Tuesday to a charge of persistent disorderly conduct for incidents in Franklin Township where he was charged with harassing residents along Green Street while extremely intoxicated.

Jozef Michael Radecki, 59, pleaded to the charge before Judge Joseph J. Matika.

He was arrested on May 20 by Franklin Township police in the area of 1915 Green St.

Police were called to the area by a resident who said Radecki, in a drunken state, repeatedly came on his property and harassed his family.

The victim spoke at the plea proceeding telling the court of Radecki’s continued harassing of his family despite being told numerous times to stay off his property.

Radecki is an inmate in the county prison. He recently completed serving a sentence for a probation violation, but has not been released because he has no established place to reside.

Radecki said he gave the probation office two addresses where he will live.

However, the probation officer in charge of Radecki’s case said he checked out both addresses and spoke to the owners of the properties and both said the defendant was not welcome at those places.

Matika sentenced Radecki to serve one to 12 months in prison and ordered he render 50 hours of community service when released, get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, have no contact with the victim or his family and stay off his property, pay court costs of more than $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.

Matika also ruled Radecki cannot be released from prison until he has a verifiable address to live.
