Prothonotary report

Prothonotary Kayla M. Semmel released the statistical report of activities for her office for the month of June.

There were 393 cases started in June with the following breakdown: civil actions, 23; custody, 10; DJ appeal, 4; divorce, 19; ejectment, 1; license appeal, 1; mortgage foreclosures, 10; name change, 3; protection from abuse, 25; quiet title, 2; judgments, 256; Stip/waiv liens, 14; custody modifications, 9; miscellaneous, 2; mental health, 1; and writs, 13.

A total of 29 passport applications were processed in June. In addition, a total of 12 renewal applicants sought assistance from the office; and 29 photos were taken. Passports are by appointment and pictures can now be taken in the office.

Total income generated was $29,381.79; prothonotary fees, $21,308.78; custody/divorce fees, $2,287.50; data processing fees, $3,70104; interest income, $20.67; PFA surcharge courts, $41.05; PFA surcharge sheriff, $25; and stenographer fess, $1,997.75.

In addition to the above fees, the office remitted to the county for the remote access fund for remote access fees of $1,800, remitted to the state department of revenue (fees collected on new cases) $3,975.28; and automation fund $1,055, which money collected for future automation and improvements to the office.

Sales tax money turned over to the state for tax on passport photos, $24.65.
