Carbon County court

A Bucks County man was placed on probation on Tuesday on assault charges.

He was one of six defendants who previously entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II presided.

Lansford incident

Jordan L. Dhoble Hayden, 25, of Perkasie, was arrested on Sept. 1, 2021, by Lansford police for an incident along West Snyder Avenue.

Officers responded to a residence for a disturbance. On scene police determined that Hayden became unruly and started to assault various family members. He was originally charged with 17 criminal counts including one count of resisting arrest, six counts of persistent disorderly conduct, five counts each simple assault and harassment. In a plea deal he pleaded to the five counts of simple assault.

Hayden told the court he had alcohol issues which he is trying to address. He said he is currently on house arrest in Lehigh County for a DUI charge. He also has mental health issues for which he takes medication.

Nanovic placed him on probation for 18 months on each count, with the terms running concurrently. He was also ordered to get both mental health and drug and alcohol evaluations, zero tolerance imposed for drug or alcohol use, supply a DNA sample and attend and successfully complete a anger management course.

The probation runs concurrent with his Lehigh County sentence.

Insurance fraud

Amanda Michel Wolfender, 26, formerly of Lansford, was placed on probation for two years on a charge of criminal attempt - theft by deception.

She was charged by agents of the Northeast Insurance Fraud Unit for making a false claim for damages. She was involved in an auto crash and afterward took out insurance on the vehicle, then made a claim for damages despite the fact the crash occurred prior to the insurance policy being issued. A representative of the NIFU said the insurance company investigated the claim and denied it so Wolfender never received any money.

Wolfender blamed the incident on her estranged husband. She said he threatened her to make the claim and after she left him she attempted to withdraw the claim but could not.

Nanovic also ordered her to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, supply a DNA sample, make restitution of $1,200 for a towing bill involving the vehicle and work to get her GED.

Christopher Detemple-McLaughlin, 31, of Summit Hill, was sentenced to serve three to one day less 24 months in the county prison on a charge of criminal conspiracy - theft. The prison term will be followed by one year of probation. He was also ordered to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, attend and successfully complete a parenting class, submit a DNA sample and stay off the RJ Market property at 701 E. Catawissa St. in Nesquehoning.

He was arrested by Nesquehoning police on Oct. 19, 2021, at the market.

He will report to the prison on Aug. 12 at 7 p.m. to begin his sentence. He was granted work-release privileges.
