Carbon County court — DUI

Four defendants who previously entered guilty pleas to driving under the influence charges were sentenced on Monday in Carbon County court.

Judge Joseph J. Matika imposed sentences on the following:

Randall Scott Snyder, 62, of Weissport, was sentenced in two cases. He previously pleaded for an incident on April 5, 2020, filed by Franklin Township police. On Monday he pleaded in second case, filed on Aug. 30, 2019, by state police at Lehighton.

In the second case he was placed in the county’s Restrictive Conditions of Probation program (house arrest) for six months with the first 10 days on electronic monitoring. He must also pay a fine of $300, license suspended for a year, render 25 hours of community service and supply a DNA sample.

In the second case he was placed in the program for 60 months, concurrent with the first case, with the first 120 days on electronic monitoring, and ordered to pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, and render 100 hours of community service.

Darren Marcel Thomas, 28, of Philadelphia, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He was given credit for seven days already served and paroled.

He was arrested on Oct. 23, 2015, by state police at Fern Ridge.

Eugene David Dacey, 46, of Nesquehoning, was placed in the house arrest program for six months, the entire time on electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $750, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

He arrested on May 7, 2021, by Nesquehoning for DUI of alcohol.

David Joseph Kudla, 41, of Lehighton, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, pay a fine of $1,000, license suspended for a year and render 25 hours of community service.

Kudla is currently an inmate in the Monroe County prison serving a parole violation sentence. The DUI term runs concurrent with his Monroe sentence.

He was arrested on Nov. 9, 2021, along Little Gap Road in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of over $1,000, a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole/probation and follow any recommendation of their drug and alcohol evaluation.
