Police from across Carbon County, as well as state troopers, have descended on Beltzville Lake looking for a suspect.

Earlier today a van was involved in a hit-and-run. Franklin Township Police spotted a van fitting the description near the entrance to Beltzville State Park about 7 p.m. When they attempted to pull the van over the man got out of the van and fled into the woods.

Franklin, Lehighton, Mahoning, Kidder and East Penn police are on scene. Police said they are searching for a black male, wearing a dark shirt and Wranglers.

Pohopoco Drive has now been shut down. A state police helicopter has been called.
