A hearing scheduled for the president of the Panther Valley School Board has been continued for the fifth time.
Jeffrey Markovich, 54, of Summit Hill, is facing a charge of bad checks.A preliminary hearing in the case was set to be held on Wednesday, after being delayed four times before.But the hearing was instead delayed for a fifth time, at the defense's request, according to Markovich's attorney, Robert Yurchak.Yurchak declined to say the reason for the latest continuance.Markovich was charged in June. A contractor told police that a $680 check from Markovich, of Anthracite Welding, was returned due to lack of sufficient funds.Markovich has said that he stopped payment on the check because of poor quality work.A date for the continued hearing has not been set.
