A resolution that would list Towamensing Township as a Second Amendment sanctuary remains under review.
Resident Mike Meining asked the board of supervisors on Thursday where they stood on the Second Amendment resolution.
“Where is Towamensing Township concerning this? We are probably the most conservative municipality (in Carbon County).”
Meining noted that multiple municipalities throughout the county have adopted a resolution in support of the Second Amendment.
Board Chairman Guy Seifert told Meining the matter is under review.
Meining said he believes the township needs to “make a move on this.”
The resolution was started up by Brandon Bell, a Jim Thorpe native who is the lead coordinator of the movement.
Bell visited various boroughs and townships asking government officials to consider adopting an ordinance that typically rejects the enforcement of state or federal gun laws sensed to violate the Second Amendment.
