Carbon County commissioners
The Carbon County Commissioners acted on the following items during their weekly meeting on Thursday.
• Approved an agreement with Connect America LLC of Broomall, to provide Personal Emergency Response System services from July 1 through June 30, 2024. Rates are $25 a month for landline; $30 a month for cellular and $35 a month for mobile. Fall detection option is an additional $5 per month.
• Approved an agreement with First Step Development Group, doing business as Alerts 911 of Delray Beach, Florida, for Personal Emergency Response System services from July 1 through June 30, 2024. Rates are $24 a month for landline; $27 a month for cellular and $35 a month for mobile. Fall detection option is included.
• Approved the resignations of Ginny Tatusko, St. Luke’s Visiting Nurse Association; and Marge Frymoyer of Jim Thorpe, from the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board.
• Approved the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board reappointments of Kimberely Miller of Lehighton, Ann Marie Richmond of Jim Thorpe, Marveline Costenbader of Palmerton and Mary Gilhool of Jim Thorpe to three-year terms; Pastor Sharon Frye of Weatherly, Jean Zimmerman of Weatherly, Helene Kennedy of Hazleton, Sandy Gallagher of Jim Thorpe and Joseph Sebelin of Jim Thorpe to two-year terms; and Grace Riggio of Lehighton, Diane Luedtke of Jim Thorpe and Thomas A. Williams of Parryville to one-year terms.
• Approved a quote from Radio Maintenance Inc., Reading for the replacement of the 911 Paging Simulcast system at the Lehigh Tunnel Tower Site, Lower Towamensing Township, Bowmanstown, Palmerton and East Penn Township. The quote is for $378,646.58 under PA COSTARS contract in the amount of $375,043.19. Non-COSTARS amount is $3,603.39. Act 12 funds will cover the cost of the purchase.
• Approved two agreements with Carbon County Action Committee for Human Services to provide any and all assistance requirements under the Homeless Assistance Program and Human Services Development Fund program guidelines and funding provisions. HAP funds are $27,359, while HSDF funds are $50,000.
• Commissioner Rocky Ahner commended Anne Horrigan of the Area Agency on Aging in purchasing a pool table for the Weatherly Senior Center through a grant.
Personnel
• Resignation: Daniel J. McLean of Lehighton, deputy sheriff, effective July 9.
• Hires as recommended by department supervisors: John A. Frey of Lehighton, seasonal park maintenance, effective July 2.
• Prison board appointments: Alyssa M. Albertson of Berwick, Stephen T. Biscardi of Nesquehoning and Beckylee A. Kandy of Albrightsville, corrections officers; Donald W. Ebinger of Effort and Latasha D. Roach of Lehighton, part-time corrections officers/Teamsters, all effective July 6.
• Controller appointment: Jarrett R. Farina of Albrightsville, accounting manager trainee, effective July 6.
• Changes of status: Benjamin C. Wysocki of Jim Thorpe, from domestic relations officer I to corrections officer, effective July 6.
