Parryville council discusses sewage option

Parryville’s board members are considering the best options for sewage for downtown residents.

President Cathy Hawk researched the options offered by Orenco Systems Distributors. The system would put a tank on each property to remove solid waste before sending clean water to the main sewage location. Once a week, the system would need to be monitored by the road crew after they receive training and sewage certification.

The cost to residents would be about $20 per month per person. Hawk will invite Orenco to the July Board meeting for a presentation.

Jason Smith encourages Parryville residents to serve on the planning commission as no volunteers have stepped forward.

Hawk said the zoning board “will be reviewing current ordinances and updating them.”

Hawk was disappointed to announce that Parryville did not receive the LSA grant to update the firehouse and hall. Hawk followed up with the funders who provided conflicting advice to the advice they initially gave her in preparing the document.

The board will reach out to state Rep. Doyle Heffley for help in finding funding to replace the aging firehouse. They will invite him to a future meeting to discuss other financial resources that might be available.

The newly formed Scout Troop 8 was presented to the board by Mayor Tom Kobal. Those interested in joining the troop can reach out to Kobal, Scoutmaster Matt Bonser, or Assistant Scoutmaster Joe Handlovic.
