Monroe commissioners open bids for courthouse project

Monroe County Commissioners continue to move forward with the courthouse expansion project.

The commissioners ratified a base bid for $41,800 and an alternate bid for $18,000 from CMG of Easton Inc. for the register and recorder relocation project. The total cost of the relocation is $59,800.

The commissioners accepted bids for moving of various offices related to the Courthouse Expansion/Renovation Project: Matheson Transfer Company bid to plan the office move was $4,018, with $4,105 to provide Prothonotary’s Office Storage Boxes and $9,604 to move the Register and Recorder office.

O’Brien Business Systems Inc. will charge $10,299 for Register and Recorder’s Office file system move.

The 66,000-square-foot, three-story structure will include new courtrooms, new judicial chambers, and a lower level devoted to secure parking for judges, detainee holding, and vehicle access, as well as sheriff court security operations. One significant improvement among the many that will occur is the existing sunken plaza will be redesigned to create a new, more easily accessible and usable public plaza.

The county offices will be moved to the former Ramsey Elementary School during the construction work.

The total cost is expected to be $50 million.

In other business

A motion was made to amend motion 2021-101 to add an additional two radios to the lease agreement with US Bank, increasing the total amount to $172,496.40.

The county agreed to execute a consultant services agreement with Kellie L. Noble for a six-month period for the Monroe County Children and Youth Services at a rate of $60 per hour, plus mileage, to assist the agency in the fiscal department.

The following agreements were approved: Clear Vision Residential Treatment Services, $125,000 and Community Services Foundation Inc. for $90.000. Both contracts are for the period of July 1, 2021, through June 30, 2022.

Eagle Scouts, volunteers

Now that the community is starting to come alive again, the commissioners are looking forward to all the proclamations and certificates they will be awarding in the next couple of weeks.

“We had a very nice RSVP reception at the Loder Building last week to honor those folks that are listed, but we want to thank everyone, not just the ones listed,” Chairwoman Sharon Laverdure said.

The RSVP volunteers receiving recognition for Outstanding Service are: Christine Baldwin, Charles Cahn, Curtis Hargash, Brian Henneberry, Roy Wilbur and George Vagelak.

A motion was made to issue the following proclamations and certificates:

Eagle Scouts to be awarded are: Dillon Brunetti and Alexander Brunetti.

“This is Eagle Scout time and I know it is kind of exciting for the young men getting their Eagle Scout awards,” Laverdure said.
