Thorpe winery to host works by Schuylkill oil painter

Wild Elder Wine and Cider has transformed its tasting room into a sanctuary of vibrant color and serene landscapes. The downtown Jim Thorpe winery and cidery is proud to host a monthlong solo exhibition of works by Amanda D’Agostino, an emerging, award-winning representational oil painter based in Schuylkill County.

The exhibition will run through June 30, at Wild Elder, located at 76 Broadway, Jim Thorpe.

D’Agostino’s expressive, impressionistic oil paintings serve as a “love song to the rural landscape and gardens.” Entirely self-taught — with foundational mentorship from her late father, as well as fine artist Calvin Lynch and plein air colorist Manon Sander — D’Agostino’s work is highly regarded for its masterful, colorist approach to light and space.

“What we need in this broken world is more play, more color, more serenity, and a place to rest the spirit,” said D’Agostino. “My work is a joyful act of resistance against negativity and chaos. It beckons to the viewer: ‘Come with me and see the magic and feel wonder, see beyond reality to the feeling of what is possible!’”

Collectors and gallerists frequently describe D’Agostino’s paintings as “serene, quiet magic, evocative, and honest.” Despite beginning her painting journey in 2019, her rapidly rising career includes jurying into prestigious regional and national exhibitions, including the Salmagundi Club in New York City, Goggleworks in Reading, Exhibit B Gallery in Souderton, and the Broad and Belvidere Contemporary Art Gallery in Nazareth. She has also been recognized nationally by the Plein Air Salon and the National Association of Women Artists, where she holds a signature membership. D’Agostino also serves as the Vice President of the Allied Artists of Schuylkill County.

All artwork on display will be available for purchase throughout the month of June during Wild Elder’s regular business hours.
