One person was hurt when a car lost its brakes and struck a home in Nesquehoning Saturday afternoon.

A passenger in the vehicle told police that he was on the way to replace the aging brakes in the vehicle, with his 5-year-old daughter in the car, at the time of the crash.Police said Monday that no one has been cited in connection with the crash.According to an incident report, Nesquehoning Police were called to West Mill Street and Mermon Avenue in the borough at 1:45 p.m. Saturday for a report of a vehicle in to a house.Witnesses said that they saw a vehicle, which appeared to have mechanical problems, make the turn from Route 209 southbound onto Mermon Avenue before striking the home.Police identified the driver as 27-year-old Amanda Rodgers of Nesquehoning. Rodgers, who police said was not wearing a seat belt, suffered a cut above the eye and was transported to St. Luke's Miners Campus.Zachary Lienhard, 25, of Nesquehoning, as well as the couple's 5-year-old daughter were passengers in the vehicle. They were wearing seat belts according to police.The homeowner, Jeffrey Wright, told police that he was inside his home preparing to get into the shower when he heard a loud bang and came outside to see the vehicle up against his porch.Police said that the crash cracked the foundation of the home and broke brick portions of a porch on the side of the home.Lienhard told police that he, Rodgers and their daughter were on the way to Tamaqua to replace the brakes in the 1993 Ford Explorer because "he knew they were bad, but they were stopping the car until today."He said as they traveled down Route 209 southbound, the brakes failed. He said that Rodgers panicked and put her head down, causing the vehicle to swerve and crash into the house.Police said the vehicle is registered to Ronald Lienhard, the child's paternal grandfather.
