An elderly Schuylkill County man has been reported missing by family members.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said James Vincent Schappell, 75, of Auburn, was last seen on Tuesday about 10 a.m. when he left the Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street, Pottsville. Troopers said Schappell suffers from mental confusion as well as other medical issues.Troopers said Schappell is driving a beige 2001 Pontiac Bonneville. The license plate on his car was "pinged" on a license plate reader system in Southern Maryland on Tuesday at 6:02 p.m. It is not known in which direction he was traveling or if he has returned to Pennsylvania. He is described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 122 pounds, with gray hair, hazel eyes, wearing a bulk nylon Adidas jacket, white short-sleeve button-down shirt, blue jeans, black plastic rim glasses and black shoes.Anyone with information concerning Schappell is asked to call troopers at 570-739-1330.
