Police report on Lehigh County crashes
State police at Bethlehem reported on the following crashes investigated by troopers on Lehigh County roadways.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 10 p.m. on March 10 along Route 145 in North Whitehall Township. Troopers said Joseph F. Krebs, 32, of Jim Thorpe, was driving a 2017 Ford Taurus southbound in the right lane when a deer entered the road in front of him. The vehicle struck the deer. After impact the Ford went onto the west berm.
Krebs was not injured but his vehicle was towed.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:28 a.m. on Feb. 24 along Route 22 in South Whitehall Township. Troopers said Jeanne E. McAleer, 56, of Lehighton, was driving a 2008 Honda Civic eastbound near the Cedar Crest Boulevard exit, when she realized she was not going to make her exit and attempted to merge over at a high rate of speed. The Honda left the road and struck a snow embankment where it came to rest.
McAleer was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.
She was cited for driving a vehicle at a unsafe speed and required financial responsibility.
• Troopers investigated a one-vehicle crash at 3:20 a.m. on Feb. 28 along Route 145 in North Whitehall Township. Troopers said Juan C. Morales, 47, of Walnutport, was driving a 1970 Ford Fairlane northbound when he lost control off the vehicle. The vehicle went onto the berm and the struck the guide rail as well as multiple roadway barrels. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment and began to cartwheel and rotate to the right. The vehicle came to rest on its roof about 50 feet off the roadway.
Morales was injured and taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. The vehicle sustained heavy damage and had to be towed.
Morales was charged with driving under the influence and careless driving.
• A one-vehicle crash was reported at 4:19 a.m. on Feb. 20 along Mountain Road in Washington Township. Troopers said Alma T. Ramirez, 27, of Kunkletown, was driving a 2010 Dodge Avenger westbound when she lost control of the vehicle which entered the opposing lane of travel. The vehicle continued traveling southeasterly direction and impacting with guide rail along the south berm. After initial impact, the vehicle continued southeast and impacted a snow bank and then a tree, where it came to rest.
Ramirez and her passenger, Nicholas A. Bower, 32, of Laureldale, were not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.
Ramirez was cited for accidents involving damage to unattended vehicle or property.
• Another one-vehicle crash was reported in Washington Township along Route 4018. Erwin L. Prutzman, 69, of Slatington, was driving a 2015 Toyota Highlander westbound when the vehicle went onto the berm and struck a fire hydrant.
Prutzman was not injured. The vehicle was towed.
He was cited for the crash.
• A crash occurred at 11:07 p.m. on March 13 along Mountain Road in Washington Township, Lehigh County.
Troopers said Christine M. Rappleyea, 30, of Walnutport, was eastbound driving a 2018 Subaru Forester when the vehicle struck a deer that has entered.
Rappleyea was not injured.
