October 7, 1992Lansford Mayor Dr. John Polumbo announced his support for a regional police department in the Panther Valley communities.Polumbo said he discussed the matter with the PA Department of Community Affairs, which suggested a concept of a regionalized force with one police chief, ranking officers and a detective. The mayor suggested the concept would be cost effective to the Panther Valley towns and result on 2-3 towns having around-the-clock protection with savings to the communities being in salaries, equipment and vehicles.“I think the time is right,” Polumbo told borough council.
