Walnutport Borough still has several vacant seats on four different borough boards.

The UCC and property maintenance board currently has two vacant spaces to fill.Borough council made a motion Thursday night to reach out to Lehigh Township for interest in a joint board regarding UCC and Property Maintenance. According to solicitor Michael Corriere, a board member can be a resident but can also qualify if the potential member owns and operates a professional business within the borough.The recreation board also has seven vacant seats, while the vacancy board has one position to fill."I wish someone would come forward. It's not that you'll always use it but if you did you have it," council President Mathew Newhard said of the vacancy board's empty chair.A representative is also needed for the Slatington Public Library board.Councilwoman Patrice Hunsicker showed interest in the position but would not be available for some time.For more information or interest in filling a board vacancy, contact the borough at 417 Lincoln Ave., or 610-767-1322.
