Man rams a police cruiser at 91 mph

A Schuylkill County man who deliberately totaled a state police cruiser when he hit it at 91 mph, injuring two troopers, faces criminal attempted homicide and related charges.

Brad Allen Moyer, 30, of 264 Ridge Road, Zion Grove, also faces felony counts of assault of a law enforcement officer, six felony counts of aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, and a felony count of criminal mischief.Moyer was taken to Schuylkill Medical Center South Jackson for injuries sustained in the incident.A woman who answered the telephone at the hospital Friday afternoon said Moyer had been discharged.An officer answering the telephone at the county prison said Moyer had not been brought in as of 4:30 p.m. Friday.Two troopers injured in the crash were treated and released.Moyer crashed into the cruiser at 11:45 p.m. Thursday at 712 Ringtown Road, North Union Township, state police said.Here's how the incident unfolded, according to a state police news release:Troopers Matthew Barrett and a trooper O'Connor were dispatched to a domestic incident at 264 Ridge Road, Union Township.Moyer had fled the house in a vehicle before they arrived.As the troopers were leaving the house, they saw Moyer stop on the road in front of 712 Ringtown Road and get out of the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu.Moyer then got back in the car and took off. The troopers began to follow him and eventually lost sight of the car.They turned onto Ringtown Road in an attempt to find Moyer.As they approached a crest in the road, they saw headlights coming toward them. As the vehicle approached them it accelerated and turned into their lane of travel.The troopers accelerated and took evasive action to the right. Moyer's vehicle struck the troopers' vehicle in the driver's side rear door with the front of the Malibu.The impact spun the cruiser counterclockwise before it struck a tree with the passenger side. Moyer was taken into custody without incident.The troopers were in a 2014 Ford Interceptor SUV, which was totaled.A search warrant was obtained for Moyer's car. The air bag control module of the Malibu was examined.The examination revealed that the Malibu accelerated five seconds before impact. There was no braking, and the Malibu's approximate speed at impact was 91 mph.
