The Monroe County Commissioners approved the following business last week:
• The authorization for the fiscal director to submit online the document for the 2020 State Criminal Alien Assistance Program, in the amount of $50,000. The federal program is designed to keep the prison wardens current on procedures and paperwork if an undocumented immigrant is incarcerated in their prison, according to Greg Christine, Chief Clerk for Monroe County.
• The execution of a labor agreement with PA Social services Union Local #668, SEIU, AFL-CIO for Children and Youth and the Office of Aging, for the period of Jan. 1, 2020, through Dec. 31, 2022.
• Renewal of the 10-year lease agreement with Smithfield Township to lease 2,500 square feet of office space, for the District Magistrate Court at the following rate of $18.95 per square foot.
• Appointed Jennifer Shukaitis to the Affordable Housing Board, with a term to expire Dec. 31, 2025.
• Authorized the $175,000 loan to Family Promise for the purpose of purchasing of 905 Main St.
• Authorized advertising for bids for the courthouse renovation and expansion project.
• Accepted a quote from Johnson Controls in the amount of $1,950 to perform fire alarm monitoring and annual maintenance at 701 Main St.
• Greg Christine was reappointed to the Northeast PA Regional Railroad Authority with a new term to expire Jan. 1, 2026.
The next commissioners meeting is Feb. 17.
