Suspect in Schuylkill shooting apprehended along the turnpike

The suspect in a Schuylkill County shooting that occurred Friday evening has been apprehended.

State police at Schuylkill Haven said Jason Hill, 39, whose address is unknown, was taken into custody on Sunday following a vehicle stop along the northeast extension of the turnpike. Troopers did not say where along the turnpike he was stopped.Hill was wanted for the shooting of Steven Davis, 33, of Tremont, that occurred about 6:45 p.m. at 4 S. Crescent St. in Tremont. Troopers said the two men became involved in an altercation. Hill proceeded to discharge a pistol, striking Davis' right and left legs. The victim was transported from the scene to the Hershey Medical Center, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullets. Davis is listed in stable condition.Hill fled the scene and police issued an alert seeking is whereabout and warning that Hill was "believed to be armed and dangerous."Hill was transported from the turnpike stop to the office of on-call District Judge Anthony Kilker of Shenandoah and arraigned on charges of criminal attempt-homicide, aggravated assault and related offenses.He was committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $250,000 straight cash bail.
