Prothonotary's report
A total of 590 cases were started in July in the office of Carbon County Prothonotary Joann M. Behrens, according to a monthly statistical report released by the officeholder. A breakdown of the cases is as follows:Civil actions, 48; custody complaints, 24; district justice appeals, 5; divorce complaints, 19; complaint in ejectment, 1; mortgage foreclosure complaints, 26; complaint in partition, 1; protection from abuse petitions, 44; quiet title action, 1; judgments, 409; miscellaneous cases, 4; paternity cases, 3; and stipulations/waivers of liens, 5. The office staff also received and processed 112 applications for U.S. Passports.Behrens' financial report shows $44,207.63 was generated last month as follows: prothonotary's fees, $34,535.10; interest income $4.81; custody fees, $400; data processing fees, $9,192.02; PFA surcharge, courts, $25; and PFA surcharge, Sheriff; $50.70. The prothonotary also remitted $900 Remote Access Fees to the county.The prothonotary also remitted $5,146.97 the commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Revenue, representing state fees collected locally and $96 to the Administrative Offices of the Pennsylvania Courts, this being surcharges on new custody cases in accordance with Act 119 of 1996.
