A New York man faces multiple drug charges after a traffic stop in Nesquehoning.
Elvis Rumardo, 39, of Marion Avenue, Bronx, was pulled over at 9:42 p.m. on Jan. 22 after the vehicle he was a passenger in pulled out of the McDonald’s parking lot without any headlights on.
Patrolman Kyle Sabulsky went to the vehicle to speak with the driver and noticed a smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle.
When questioned, the occupants of the vehicle said they had smoked it earlier in the day.
The driver of the vehicle then gave Sabulsky consent to search the car.
Sabulsky found 277 grams of synthetic and prepackaged marijuana and a drug scale in a bag in the trunk.
After the search, Rumardo admitted the marijuana was his.
He was arraigned on the three drug charges on Jan. 23 before District Judge Eric Schrantz and sent to prison on $5,000 bail, but has since been released after posting bail.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3.
