Jim Thorpe area nonprofit Turn To Us will host a row, run and ride mini-triathlon from 1-6 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Gym, 693 Route 903.
"Since St. Luke's University Health Network is extensively involved in the care of Carbon County residents, they were asked to partner with us for this event," said board member Dr. Nicole Sully."Promoting health is something that we, as physicians, aspire to do on a regular basis. Unfortunately, exercise can be intimidating, particularly for those who don't engage in physical activity on a regular basis. What better way to start a year of good habits than by participating in an event that will not only promote heath, but also help your fellow neighbors, friends and family members."Participants will register for an hour time slot to run, bike and row for 10 minutes each. Distances will be logged for each station and awards will be given to the top two males and females in each age bracket for the total mileage covered in the 30 minutes. The top two overall winners will receive a medal. Age brackets are broken down into: 13-17 (parental supervision required), 18-30, 31-45, 46-55, 56-64 and 65+. The registration fee is $25 and includes a water bottle and snacks. Time slots available for registration are 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m., but spots for the event are limited. To register for a chance to compete in the event, contact Alicia at 570-325-2701, ext. 108, or visit turntousforhope.com/event/row-run-ride. Waivers for participation can be found on the site and must be returned the day of the event.
