163 new virus cases in Monroe, 114 in Schuylkill

The Pennsylvania Department of Health today confirmed Saturday that there were 8,053 additional positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the statewide total to 351,667.

There are 2,904 people hospitalized with COVID-19. Of that number, 864 patients are in the intensive care unit with COVID-19. Most of the patients hospitalized are ages 65 or older, and most of the deaths have occurred in patients 65 or older.

The trend in the 14-day moving average of number of hospitalized patients per day has increased by nearly 2,300 since the end of September.

Statewide percent positivity for the week of Nov. 20 – Nov. 26 stood at 11.7%.

As department reported 41 new deaths for a total of 10,275 deaths attributed to COVID-19.

In nursing and personal care homes, there are 32,915 resident cases of COVID-19, and 1,232 cases among employees, for a total of 39,381 at 1,232 distinct facilities in 63 counties. Out of our total deaths, 6,430 have occurred in residents from nursing or personal care facilities.

Approximately 14,198 of the total cases are among health care workers.

Local reports include:

Carbon County is reporting 1,299 cases, an increase of 47 cases. On more death was reported for a total of 49.

In Lehigh County, there are 11,279 cases, an increase of 298 cases. Deaths remain at 382.

Luzerne County has 9,435 cases, an increase of 197 cases. Deaths remain at 267.

Monroe County has 3,343 cases, an increase of 163. Two more deaths were reported for a total of 143.

In Northampton County, there are 236 new cases, bringing the total to 8,903. One more death has been reported for a total of 332.

Schuylkill County has 4,014 cases, an increase of 114. Three more deaths are attributed to COVID-19, bringing the total to 169.
