Carbon County commissioners

The Carbon County Commissioners, on Thursday, approved the following items:

• Awarded a contract for the Community Development Block Grant project for Lehighton Borough to Pioneer Construction Company Inc. of Honesdale, who bid $193,636.11. The project calls for replacing ADA handicap ramps at the corners of Second, Third and Sixth street on Iron Street.

• Reappointed Paul Smith of Lehighton to a five-year term to the airport authority. The term expires on Dec. 31, 2025.

• Reappointed Joseph Guardiani of Nesquehoning to a three-year term on the Carbon-Monroe-Pike Drug and Alcohol Commission. The term expires Nov. 30, 2023.

• Accepted the resignation of Theresa (Terry) Warnagiris of Weatherly from the Parks and Recreation Commission.

• Reappointed Timm Berger of Lehighton, George Karas of Lehighton and Robert Miller of Nesquehoning to four-year terms on the county planning commission. Their terms expire Dec. 31, 2024.

• Approved awarding a payment to Lake Harmony Rescue Squad and Ambulance in the amount of $23,667.48 under the COVID-19 County Relief Block Grant first round.

• Adopted a resolution honoring Joshua Raymond Long, member of Boy Scout Troop 209, Palmerton, on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.
