Volleyball enthusiasts in Walnutport may want to soon brush up on their serving, setting and spiking skills.

That’s because a long-awaited volleyball court will be ready by spring, as was announced at Thursday’s borough council meeting.

It was noted that pins are in the ground, sand is on the way. The volleyball court will be located at the borough playground.

In February, borough resident Donald Eckhart encouraged the borough to ramp up its efforts to add a volleyball court as a recreational activity.

Eckhart - who serves on the borough’s recreation committee - previously made a $2,000 donation toward a volleyball court.

Borough grant coordinator Michael Wentz said everything has been donated and paid for, and that all the work has been done in house.

Wentz previously said the sand is beach sand.
