A Slatington woman as sentenced to a county prison term on Friday in Carbon County court for having sexual intercourse with a teen.

Judge Joseph J. Matika sentenced Tracy Morey, 45, to serve six to 18 months in prison on a charge of indecent assault.Morey previously pleaded guilty to the charge admitting to having intercourse with a then 15-year-old boy around Sept. 18, 2013, in the Palmerton area.Public defender Attorney Gregory Lee Mousseau noted that a presentence investigation report prepared by the adult probation office indicated the incident has had no lasting effect on the victim. He said the victim agreed to the plea bargain in which counts of statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor, both felonies, were dropped.Mousseau added that he discussed a defense to the charge with Morey. He added, "The defense would have been a mistake of age."Morey told Matika, "I'm really sorry for all the pain I caused my family and his." She added, "It will never happen again." She also claimed that alcohol played a role in her actions, saying she was drinking before the incident.Matika said in reviewing the incident report from police and the presentence investigation report, "you've been given a tremendous break. That may have been for your cooperation." He said conviction of the original charges filed would have meant a state prison term.Morey had undergone an evaluation by the state sexual assessment board and was determined not to be a sexually violent predator. The evaluation was under the provisions of Megan's Law. However, she will have to register for the next 25 years as a sexual offender.Matika also ordered Morey to get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow any recommendations for treatment, have no contact with the victim, zero tolerance on drug and alcohol use, render 50 hours of community service when released on parole, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on parole.She began the jail term immediately.
