A total of 975 provisional ballots were received by the Schuylkill County Elections Office.
Of those, 755 were counted, and 220 were contested. Election board members and Commissioners George Halcovage Jr. and Barron “Boots” Hetherington were among those participating Tuesday. Commissioner Gary Hess did not attend. In addition to Elections Director Albert Gricoski, others attending were elections board solicitor Chris Hobbs and chief county clerk Linda Deatrich and representatives from the Democratic and Republican Party.
Reasons for the 220 contested ballots were lack of a signature and no reason given.
Officials will meet at a later date for a hearing to go over the contested ballots, Gricoski said.
He said the county received about 126 mail-in and or absentee ballots between 8 p.m. Nov. 3 and 5 p.m. Nov. 6., which have been segregated.
