Marian receives recognition for its yearbook
Marian Catholic High School's yearbook program has been named a 2015 Jostens' National Yearbook Program of Excellence.
The program recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st century skills, such as communication, collaboration, and information and communication technologies literacy.Jostens' awards are presented twice a year, in spring and in fall for yearbooks delivered during the school year, to programs that have achieved the defined criteria in each of three categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement, and successfully managing the yearbook creation process.Marian's award-winning yearbook program is led by Kaylee Ceci, Joseph Damiano, Kathryn Healey, Sadie Kosar, Shannon Masington, Michael Nicholson, Lauren Nietz, Christian Nonnemacher, Abby O'Donnell, Annette Ritzko, Madeline Vetter, Sierra Volkert, and Alison Walck under the direction of Mary Davis, yearbook adviser."As this was the 50th year that we are on this campus, we came together as a team to create a book that everyone would enjoy and treasure," Davis said. "Our goal was to make sure everyone was included multiple times by trying to include as many school activities as possible. We also wanted to illustrate how Marian has changed over the years. Through the process, we learned to rely on each other and to tap each other's resources as well as the talents of the administration, faculty, staff, and other students. This publication was truly a labor of love."Murad Velani, chief operating officer at Jostens, said, "Yearbooks connect students' hearts and minds to the school story, school year experiences, and the community to memorialize moments that matter. Jostens is proud to recognize yearbook staffs and advisers who create engaging yearbooks that tell the story of their school communities."We understand that a great yearbook program does not just happen, and we are dedicated to helping schools, yearbook advisers and students to strengthen their programs by providing state of the art tools, resources and best practices that support the development and creation of award-winning yearbooks," Velani said.Marian will receive a plaque to display in the yearbook area and a banner to display in school so the entire school community will be aware of the outstanding achievement.
