Bomb threats resulted in evacuations of six Carbon County schools in a one week period in December.

Jim Thorpe High School, Lehighton Middle School, Panther Valley High School, Panther Valley Intermediate School, the Penn-Kidder Campus in Jim Thorpe and Lehighton High School were all affected by the threats.The threats, though deemed to be false, drew response from local and state police, emergency medical personnel and fire departments.Bomb sniffing dogs were also brought in to search the buildings.Suspects in three of the threats have been identified. All are juveniles, meaning their identity is protected by school officials and law enforcement.An 11-year-old girl has been found to be the responsible party for a bomb threat that sent Panther Valley Intermediate School students home.Kidder Township police reported that a 13-year-old male student admitted writing the note at the Penn-Kidder school.A 12-year-old girl was the culprit behind a bomb scare at Lehighton Middle School on Dec. 15.
