West Penn Township Police are investigating an attempted murder-suicide in West Penn Township Saturday night.
Chief Brian Johnson said that 53-year-old Michael Mindock III shot his wife, Brigette, in the back and then put the gun to his head and pulled the trigger.Shortly after 9 p.m. police and emergency medical personnel raced to 687 Arrow Road where they found the couple with gunshot wounds.The two victims were treated at the scene by members of the New Ringgold and Tamaqua ambulances and two Lehighton paramedic units.Brigette Mindock, 56, was released Sunday from Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.Michael Mindock remains hospitalized.The pair were transported to a landing zone along Dairy Road just east of Route 309 established by the West Penn Fire Company 1.PennStar 5 transported Michael Mindock to St. Luke's University Hospital - Bethlehem Campus and MedEvac transported Brigette Mindock to the Lehigh Valley Hospital Trauma Center in Allentown.The scene is located just west of Archery Club Road. Assisting in the call were Tamaqua and Rush township police.Johnson says the investigation is ongoing. No charges have been filed.The Associated Press contributed to this report.
